Women's Football Legend: Jess Fishlock
Jess Fishlock made her appearance tonight, playing for Wales at the women's first major tournament. She said 'I don't think you can explain Welsh passion to anybody, it's in our blood, our DNA.' As well as playing for Wales, she also plays for Seattle Reign. Fishlock is an outstanding football player, breaking many records for Wales. She was the first Welsh player, male or female, to reach 100 caps for Wales in 2017, then she became the first Welsh player to reach 150 caps in 2024. She was Welsh Footballer of the Year 5 times and broke Wales' all-time goalscoring record by scoring her 45th goal for Wales in the qualifying match for Euros 2025. On top of all these achievements she also received an MBE for services to football and the LGBT community in 2018. When asked about her most rewarding moments Jess Fishlock said that 'Bringing visibility to the LGBTQ+ community has been a huge one.' 'Also being part of a group that has changed the view of what football is and who it's for.'
